I'm
29 years old and have been drawing since forever. I'm mostly
self-taught, though I took a few art classes here and there.
I was born and raised near Seattle Washington and moved to California
in 2006 seeking meaningful work and more consistant sunshine.
After starting out as a residential volunteer on a teaching
farm in the Central Valley I'm now in the San Francisco Bay
Area working on a small goat dairy and also as a certified massage
therapist. Both jobs keep me pretty physical and I love them
even though nowadays I'm often too pooped to draw after a day
(or night!) at work. But inspiration still strikes me from time
to time!
I have always been a fangirl, moving from one pop culture obsession
to the next with varying degrees of frequency. I often site
the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles as my first fandom at approximately
age 9, though if I go back even further it was probably something
like the Smurfs or Rainbow Brite, heheh.... fan art makes up
the bulk of my art, but from time to time I'll do something
original - right now my main focus is goats. See the section
below for more about them!

I adore goats, especially Nubians. Right now I own 6 goats
(4 purebred Nubians and 2 Boer/Nubian crosses) and am in the
process of getting registered with the American Dairy Goat
Association. I have dreams of having my own little herd of
Nubians and possibly doing a small raw milk dairy or teaming
with a cheesemaker. I love my goats very much, and it is of
vital importance to me that they have long, productive lives
followed by a well-deserved, luxurious retirement. It is also
very important to me for people to understand what dairy means
for the animals and environment and the problems with modern
conventional large-scale dairying (and agriculture in general,
for that matter...). More about my goaty dreams can be learned
at Does
in Repose.

Gabby (DOB 2003), my favorite goat in the whole world.
I plan on getting at least one more doeling from her
to form the foundations of my own herd. Pedigree

Becky-Jo (DOB 2006, Gabby's daughter). Not yet registered,
I hope to make her the first goat registered under
my very own herd name. Pretty decent little milker!

Emily (DOB 2006). Not a great milk producer by any
stretch of the imagination, but healthy, sturdy, good
mothering skills and she has a great temperment. Might
be worth keeping kids from for those traits, if I
can improve the milk production a bit! Pedigree

Ella (DOB 2005, half sister to Emily). Also not a
great milk producer, but like Emily is a super easy
keeper, sturdy and healthy, and also has a great temperment.
Poor mothering skills, though. If bred to the right
buck, might have doelings worth keeping. Pedigree

Taco (DOB 2004), unregistered Boer/Nubian. I have
no idea about her genetics, but I know that's she's
a super easy keeper, sturdy, healthy and nice temperment.
Unfortunately she has mastitis damage to her udder,
so I'm not sure what potential her kids may have.

Sparkle (DOB 2003, half sister to Taco), unregistered
Boer/Nubian. Like Taco, her genetic background is
a mystery. Sparkle is retired from kidding and milking
now, due to fairly serious arthritis in her front
legs. Which is a shame, because she was herd queen
back in her day, a good mom and not a bad milker! |
